The Stuttgart Spring Fest, or Frülingfest in German, is one of the biggest spring festivals in Europe. It is held from half April until early May and takes place at the Cannstatter Wasen in the suburb Bad Cannstatt. It offers a mix of funfair rides, traditional food, live entertainment and of course, a lot of beer! It’s a tradition that the mayor of Stuttgart drinks the first beer of the festival, once that’s done, the Spring Fest has officially started!
Amusement rides
If you are an adrenaline-seeker look no further! You will find plenty of thrilling rides like roller coasters, freefall towers, and spinning rides. However, if you are more laid-back, there are plenty of relaxing and family friendly options too, in the Ferris wheel you will have the most amazing view, there are bumper cars and classical carousels.
Traditional beer tents
During the Spring Fest you will find some great traditional beer tents where you can enjoy freshly brewed beer, live music and a lively atmosphere. You can also try some local delicatesses like Schweinshaxe, which is a roast pork knuckle, a Göckele (grilled chicken) or something that everyone in Germany loves; a Bratwurst!
Live music and shows
The beer tents feature live bands playing traditional German music during the day and lively pop, rock, and party music in the evening. Dancing and singing along with the crowd is part of the experience. Traditional parades also take place during the fest, not every day but if you are lucky it’s a must see.
Firework
Most nights feature spectacular fireworks that light up the sky. It adds some magic to the experience! Watching the fireworks is a perfect way to conclude a great day at the Spring Fest.
